This is realization of the vertical campus in Tokyo high-rise district of Nishi- Shinjuku by Tange Associate, the same architecture firm that did Singapore's indoor stadium. Recently awarded 'Skyscraper of the Year' by Emporis, the 50 level building contains 3 different schools: Tokyo Mode Gakuen (fashion), HAL Tokyo (IT and digital contents) and Shuto Iko (medical treatments and care). According to the architect: "The building’s innovative shape and cutting edge façade embodies our unique “Cocoon” concept. Embraced within this incubating form, students are inspired to create, grow and transform." High rises are unconventional building types for schools but in high density urban areas like Singapore, this could very well be the way to go.
