Air Tree Pavilion - Urban Ecosystems
Posted Saturday, May 30, 2009 by SixSevenEightNine in Labels: ArchitectureMadrid is getting an interesting addition to its urbanscape in the form of these Air Tree Pavilions designed by Urban Ecosystem. Made from recyclable materials, these pavilions collect solar energy which is then sold back to the local electrical companies. The plants it houses also produces oxygen and filters the surrounding air. While there may be questions about its aesthetic and the applicability in Singapore, this project nonetheless demonstrates the potential of regenerative design where buildings go beyond reducing its carbon footprint and on top of that actually positively contribute to the environment.
