Green Rails

As the green movement gathers momentum, designers are finding more ingenious places to restore greenery in our cities. While we are not for mindless plastering of symbolic greenery at every crevice, we find greening our rails a rather clever idea. Given that trains only come in contact along the track alignment, the railway offers an actual opportunity for greening. Granted there are issues to be ironed out such as plant species and maintainability, we hope that this becomes a viable option for rail operators around the world. If nothing else, the streak of greens in the city certainly looks more attractive than the current tarmacs and gravels. Let's hope people from SMRT or LTA sees this.
