Nicole Poko – Melt

Nicole freezes and melts her paint to create her art.
Born in 1982 New Jersey, Nicole Poko was educated in visual arts in New York.
She freezes various types of paint and water into molds. She then stacks the ice layers onto yupo paper (a paper like plastic sheet) to melt. The plastic like nature of the paper causes the water to pool as the different layers of paint melt. To increase audience participation, she uses a bounce floor which allows the pool of melted pain to shift towards the weight of the viewer.
